William McDonald
William L. McDonald, 87, Celina, passed away at 4:35 a.m. May 19, 2019, at Mercy Health-St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born April 8, 1932, in St. Marys, to the late Raymond A. and Mary (Shindeldecker) McDonald. On February 25, 1956, he married Ella V. (Blount) McDonald and she preceded him in death on February 25, 2015.
Surviving are a daughter, Teresa (Naaman) Hand Butler, Celina; two brothers, Charles (Nancy) Maier, Celina, and Ronald (Julie) McDonald, Lima; four sisters, Janet (Floyd) Hinton, Arizona, Ethel Marcum, Arizona, Phylis (Dan) Donaldson, Delta, and Beverly, Boyters, Virginia; a grandson, Matthew Butler, Celina; a granddaughter, Minta Butler, Celina; and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary K. McCormick, and Grace Nutter; three brothers, John A., Lowell, and Ray McDonald; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis McDonald.
Bill served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Mersman Furniture Factory in Celina after many years of service. He was a member of the Celina Church of Nazarene and the Celina American Legion Post #210.
He enjoyed spending time with family, going to sporting events, music in the park, and most of all loving his cats.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina; where the Celina VFW and the Celina American Legion membership services will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday May 24, 2019 at Celina Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Chris Riffle officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, with military honors.
Contributions in his honor can be made to St. Jude's Hospital and/or Wounded Warrior and/or the donor's favorite charity.
