Kenneth Schwieterman
Kenneth A. Schwieterman, age 76, of Coldwater, died Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida surrounded by his family.
He was born July 16, 1943 in Celina, to the late Matt Sr. & Coletta (Luthman) Schwieterman. He married Marilyn (Evers) on July 18, 1964, and she survives in Coldwater.
He is also survived by three children, Kenneth (Holley) Schwieterman of Boca Raton, Florida, Sandra (Bruce) Fife of Tuscon, Arizona, and Lynda (Doug) Schockman of Columbus; grandchildren, Amanda, Johnny, Joey & Andrew Schockman and Kaylee Fife; siblings and in-laws, Jean (Bob) Neumeister of Oakwood, Joan (Bill) Geise of Coldwater, Matt Schwieterman Jr. (friend Carol Beckman) of Coldwater, Trish (Ken) Wrightsman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ralph (Jane) Schwieterman of Coldwater, Romie (Brenda) Schwieterman of Coldwater and Chris (Jerry) Schulte of Chickasaw; and in-laws, Thomas Rose (fiancé Teresa Brown) of Montezuma, Marvin (Ruth) Evers of St. Henry, Elaine Ebbing of Coldwater, Roger Evers of Coldwater and Kathy (Jerry) Laux of Coldwater.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Rose, brother, Christopher Schwieterman and in-laws, Joyce Schwieterman, Dee Schwieterman and Clem Ebbing.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater and the Coldwater Knights of Columbus. He was owner and operator of Montgomery Ward, Laundromat, Sunoco Gas Station, Coldwater Car Wash, Mall Service Center, Coldwater Auto Parts, True Value Hardware and Radio Shack for 32 years along with his wife Marilyn in the Coldwater Mall. He was president of the Coldwater Mall. In 1971 he was president of the Coldwater Community Picnic. He and his wife owned and operated the Portland True Value for 34 years in Portland, Indiana. He was instrumental starting the Go-Kart Racing for Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross, was president of their Board of Directors, in 2003 he received the American Red Cross Moser Philanthropic Award, the 2005 Business of the year was presented to Portland True Value, in 2009 received the award for years of dedication, support and generosity from the American Red Cross, in 2012 he received the global Award in IVFA district 8B for dedication to the Fire Station, he was also parade Grand Marshal in Portland that year, in 2018 he was parade grand marshal for the Coldwater Community Picnic. After being a hardware man all his life he continued in the same department in the Celina Wal-Mart. He had a true dedication to his customers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Holy Trinity Church with Fr. Ron Wilker officiating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.   
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater from 1 to 6 pm on Sunday December 29th , and from 9 to 10 AM on Monday.
