Gunnar Larmore reacts as he places his unprotected right hand into ice water during Casey Hinton's lesson Friday at Celina Primary School. Hinton had the children coat one hand with shortening. They then placed that hand and the unprotected hand into a bowl of ice water. The lesson was to teach the kindergartners how Arctic animals such as polar bears stay warm in cold weather.
