Betty McGillvary
Betty L. McGillvary, age 87, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020, at her home in Celina.
She was born December 20, 1932, in Mendon, to Orville Lee & Dorothy Dale (Skinner) McGillvary.
Betty is survived by her brother, Vermont "Montie" and sister-in-law, Carole McGillvary of Mendon, seven nieces & nephews: Greg (Amy) McGillvary, Lori (Jim) Bader, Debbie McGillvary, Brenda (Jeff) Severns, Susie (Dave) Staugler, Kari (Chris) Cron and Brett (Stacey) McGillvary, and many great nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Ed and sister-in-law, Judy Huwer McGillvary.
Betty was a 1950 graduate of Mendon-Union High School, and went on to earn her nursing degree at the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.
Over the years, Betty had worked as a Registered Nurse at Gibbons Hospital in Celina, the Children's Hospitals in Columbus and Denver, Harris Hospital in Sylva, NC, then retired from The Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. After retirement, she returned to Celina.
Betty had thoroughly enjoyed her nursing career, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Mendon First Church of God. In her younger days, she liked to go fishing. Betty loved dogs, and had Boston Terriers for many years. Her last pet was her beloved terrier, Molly.
At her request, no services are planned. Burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery.
