Rolland Luginbill
Rolland Dean Luginbill, 86, of Rockford passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020, at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
Dean was born on May 14, 1934, in Mercer County, Ohio, to Roy and Goldie (Bollenbacher) Luginbill. He attended Willshire School until his senior year, when he became a student of Rockford High School, where he graduated in the Class of 1954.
Dean was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
On March 20, 1959, he married Helen (Huffman) Luginbill, who survives in Rockford. Dean worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he retired in 1986; he also farmed for many years.
After retiring from Harvester, he joined the staff at the Rockford Lumber Company in Rockford. Dean lived his entire life in the area, and played basketball at both Willshire and Rockford schools.
He enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds; in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting. Later, while he was able to travel, he and Helen enjoyed going to the casinos and trying their luck.   In his later years, he enjoyed searching for treasures with his metal detector, and, always, he enjoyed the love of his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Helen, two daughters survive: Shari and Charles Koontz of Rockford, Ohio and Michelle and Brian Fennig of Bluffton, Indiana; 5 grandchildren: Kyle (Lea) Luginbill, Lucas (Danielle) Luginbill, Drew (Allie) Luginbill, Brandy (Jeff) Salamone, and Kayleigh Powell; and also 7 great-granchildren. One sister, Norma Jean (Charles) Fuson survives in Celina, Ohio.
Deceased are Dean's parents, a son Todd, and 2 sisters: Leona Amburgey and Mary Luginbill; and two brothers: Kenneth and Vernon Luginbill.
