John R. Bertke, age 64, of Celina, died on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Kindred Hospital in Lima.

He was born May 27, 1957, in Coldwater, Ohio to the late Dennis and Ruth (Huecker) Bertke. On July 21, 1978, he married Karen (Meinerding) and she survives.

He is also survived by his children Tricia (Joe) Grieshop of Celina and Jeff (Jackie) Bertke of Celina; grandchildren Colton, Reese and Corah; siblings and in-laws, Jerry (Janie) Bertke of Coldwater, Ted (Dianna) Bertke of Celina, Jan Hertel of Celina, Kenneth (Kathy) Bertke of Versailles, Nick (Lin) Bertke of Troy, Betty (Brian) Rembacki of Coldwater, Kay (Don) Homan of New Bremen, Norman (Tiffany) Bertke of Columbus, Scott (Annie) Bertke of Columbus, Dick (Connie) Meinerding of St. Marys, John (Mary) Meinerding of Neptune, Jane (Lanney) Combs of Cridersville, Mike (Arliss) Meinerding of Mendon and Anna Stein of Celina.

He is preceded in death by brothers Michael 'Chicken' Bertke and David 'Spock' Bertke and brother-in-law, Ron Hertel.

John worked at Crown in New Bremen, he was an avid hunter, devoted grandpa and enjoyed motorcycles and the outdoors.

Funeral Service will be held 11 AM on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Burial will follow in North Grove Cemetery, Celina.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM on Thursday and after 10 am on Friday at the funeral home.
