Owen Gilbert
Owen F. Gilbert, 82, of St. Marys, OH died 7:48 p.m. Monday December 6, 2021 at his residence.
He was born June 30, 1939 in New York, NY.
Survivors include: son Allan (Nikki) Gilbert of St. Marys, OH; daughter Rosealee (Jason Suchland) Gilbert of St. Marys, OH; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Fred (Esther) HGilbert of Berne, IN, brother Mahlon (Cathy) Gilbert of Columbia, CT.
Preceded in death by: adoptive parents Harry and Alberta (Alverda) Gilbert; son Rick Brandenburg; close companion Marge Andrews; former wife Velma Ralston.
He was a graduate of New Bremen High School (Class of 1959). Following graduation, he proudly served his country in The United States Army. He worked as a tow motor operator for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys for many years.
Owen will be remembered and an extremely intelligent, hard-working man. An avid gun collector, he also enjoyed discussing politics and military history.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday December 13, 2021 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys. Military funeral honors will be conducted at the funeral home, following the services.
Visitation 2 - 6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
