Rose Mackey
Rose M. Mackey, 95, of Evansville, formerly of Celina, Ohio, passed away January 17, 2022, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.
She was born to John and Loretta Gosden. She married Sherman Mackey, Jr., in 1945. They raised two children and were together over 70 years before Sherman's passing in 2016.
Rose began her career as a secretary, then became a stay-at-home mom and later worked alongside her husband in their business, S&K Products, until they retired. Baptized Catholic, she was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, in Celina where she and Sherman were very active and sang in the choir together, really together, as her alto voice was needed on the short-staffed men's side of the choir. She was the best cook, loved to play bridge, had a green thumb in her yard, and was practical and resilient. Rose was the very center of her family and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Gosden.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Don) Cates and Richard (Pam) Mackey; grandchildren, Jami Cates, Michael (Christina) Mackey, Debra Loera, Amanda (David) Mull, Catherine (Chad) Albers, Justin (Mindy) Mackey and Christina Mackey; niece, Samantha (Bryan) Lee; nephews, Paul (Deborah) Gosden, Peter (Annette) Gosden and Patrick (Emmalee Whitlock) Gosden; sister-in-law, Paulette (John Tumbarello) Gosden-Tumbarello; fourteen great grandchildren; and six great-nieces/nephews.
There will be a private funeral service for the family. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander West Chapel.
Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderWestChapel.com.
