James Etgen
James "Jim" Etgen, 77, of Wapakoneta passed away at 8:38 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Kindred Hospital, Dayton.
He was born on July 11, 1944 in Lima, OH to Leroy & Verdean (Kantner) Etgen who preceded him in death. On December 29, 2000 he married Norma Klenke and she survives in Wapakoneta.
He is also survived by 3 children Timothy (Jill) Etgen of Wapakoneta, Kimberly Evans of Hagerstown, MD, Robert (Cherie) Gehle Jr. of Hamilton Square, NJ; 6 grandchildren Ty (Heather) Etgen, Joel (Andrea) Etgen, Bryant McClain, Kristy (Tyler) Varno, Kierstin Gehle, Drew Gehle; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Dorothy (Al) Behr and Donna (Fritz) Gerstner.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Tiffany Etgen and a sister Rita Howell.
Jim grew up on his family farm and graduated from New Knoxville High School in 1962. He was a lifelong brick mason and retired from Tuttle Construction. He was a member of the Eagles 691, Moose 1473 and was a past president of the Auglaize Fish & Game. He enjoyed bowling, softball, fishing and hunting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church 6959 Glynwood Rd., St. Marys with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating.
Family and friends may visit from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Auglaize County 4-H Shooting Sports or to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
