James Nixon
James W Nixon, age 72 passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft Wayne, IN.
He was born April 5, 1950 in Greenville to the late William and Evelyn (Collins) Nixon.
Jim married Sharon (Klosterman) Nixon on April 24, 1970, and she survives, along with their sons: Tim (Katrina) of Minster, Dan (Katie) and Corey (Angie) of Celina, and Patrick (Jill) of Ft Recovery; 10 grandchildren: James (JR), Josh, Jenna, Justin, Johnny, Owen, Ryan, Hunter, Dawson, Jackson and two on the way. He is also survived by brothers David of Versailles and Mike of Cypress, CA as well as sister Susan Agee in Dayton; in-laws Sharon Nixon of Versailles, OH, Patricia Nixon of Chapel Hill, NC, Marlene & Fred Rutschilling, Minster, Jerri & Ron Buening, Coldwater, Joan & Tim Homan, Montezuma, and Theresa & Ralph Homan, Portland, IN as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Ronnie Nixon and brother-in-law Doug Agee.
Jim was a 1968 Versailles High School graduate. He served with the U.S. Army from 1969-1972, and was stationed in Okinawa from 1970-71 where he was on an Army Maintenance Crew. His first job was at New Idea in Coldwater, then worked many years as a self-employed over the road truck driver. He retired from Classic Carriers Inc in Versailles. He owned Paycheck Beagles since 1973, was a lifetime member of the Grand Lake Beagle Club, the Southern Michigan Beagle Club and was past President of the Midwestern Federation Beagle Club.
He was also a member of Coldwater American Legion and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Montezuma, OH where he was a member of the Men's Sodality. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing, hunting and running beagles. Most of all, Jim really enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, and watching them in all of their activities.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 2 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Montezuma, OH. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery with full military honors conducted by Coldwater American Legion Post #470.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1 from 4-8 pm at Bailey-Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles, OH and from 9:00-10:00am Thursday morning at the Church.
