Mary Jane Steinke
Mary Jane Steinke, 87, of Botkins, died Sunday evening, Sept. 25, 2022, in Miami County.
She was born April 22, 1935, in Darke County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Albert and Eleanora (Fischer) Pleiman. On Oct. 25, 1958, she married Dean C. Steinke, and he survives her.
Other survivors include five children: Monica (Ron) Rutschilling, St. Henry, Ohio; Mitchell Steinke, Jackson Center, Ohio; Melissa (Jeremy) Foust, Wapakoneta; Melanie (Allen) Greve, Botkins; Mandy Steinke, Anna, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Jason Rutschilling, Kate (Jay) Rindler, Michelle Rutschilling; Nicole Rutschilling, Jessica Oen, Nathan Oen, Elizabeth Foust; Grant (fiancée- Morgan) Greve, Garrett Greve, Dylan Steinke; 3 great grandchildren, Mya, Kane, Becca; 3 sisters, Charlene Meyer, Houston, Ohio; Angela (Marion) Phlipot, Newport, Ohio; Norma Toller, Ft. Loramie; a sister-in-law, Sharon Steinke, Botkins and her dog, Muffin.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by a son, Michael Steinke, and siblings, Ralph Pleiman, Lester Pleiman, and Virginia Pohl.
Mary Jane first worked at Monarch Machine and Tool Co., Sidney, and later at Airstream, Jackson Center. She was a 1953 graduate of Minster High School. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins. Mary Jane was active with the Adoration Chapel at church, funeral choir, and a member of the Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of a card club. Her other joys were painting ceramics, reading, camping, going on adventures, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Fri. Sept. 30, 2022, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins, with Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Botkins.
The family will receive friends 3-8 p.m., Thurs. Sept. 29, and 9-9:45 a.m., Fri. at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
