Edward Wallen
Rev. Dr. Edward G. Wallen age 86, of Wapakoneta passed away 1:54 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his home following a long illness.
He was born March 10, 1936 in Rushmore, Ohio to the late Edward John and Mary Louise (Merschman) Wallen. He married Marguerite West Feb. 13, 1988 and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Ed had been a draftsman at Westinghouse before starting his second career in the ministry. He received bachelor of arts from Ashland College and his masters and Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary. He served many local churches throughout the years. Had been an administrator of Hill View Retirement Center for 7 years. He served on the Otterbein Cridersville and St. Marys local boards for several years. He served on the Wapak City Council and had been very involved with Sister Cities of Wapakoneta, sponsoring several students and chaperoned High School students to Germany. Ed also published 3 books. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, travel and Biblical research. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include children: Michael (Theresa) Wallen of Columbus, Steven Patrick (Matthew) Wallen of Maryland, Kimberly Shepard of Archbold and Kathy Wallen of St. Petersburg, FL; stepchildren David Sealscott of Toledo, Julie (Tim) Klaus of North Carolina and Lisa (Ben) Cordes of Custer, Ohio; 3 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and was formerly married to Beverly Kay Orchard.
The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The funeral will be 10:30 Tuesday at Salem United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta and burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Mary's.
Memorial contributions may be given to Children's Medical Missions in Waynesfield and Sister Cities.
