Constance Behnen
Constance Louise (Barhorst) Behnen, age 78, of Otterbein St. Marys Senior Life Community, passed away of natural causes early Thursday morning, December 29, 2022, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
She was born November 16, 1944, in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Robert J. & Ruth E. (Carter) Barhorst.
She is survived by a daughter, Roxanna Aldstadt DO of West Bend, WI, & dear friend John Easley of Franklin, WI, and a son, Alex & Lee Ann Behnen of Westerville; three grandchildren, Mark Aldstadt, Kathryn Aldstadt and Carys Behnen; four siblings: Betty & Larry Hoffman of Mission Viejo, CA, Robert "Bobby" & Cynthia Barhorst of Fort Loramie, Nina & Ron Prenger of Celina and Lisa & Kenneth Everman of Maria Stein along with numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Connie was a 1962 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. She later went on to acquire a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from the Wright State University in Dayton. She was a retired elementary teacher from Mad River/Dayton Public Schools, where she primarily worked with special needs children. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Dayton and lived in New Carlisle for many years. Connie was a full spirited personality and an avid collector and wearer of costume jewelry. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and raising her dear Scottish Terrier dogs.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Andrew Reckers presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Monday 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Tuesday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to charities of choice.
