Maynard Schamp
Maynard F. Schamp, 91, of rural St. Marys, OH died 5:05 a.m. Thursday April 27, 2023 at Vancrest of St. Marys.
He was born February 11, 1932 in Noble Twp. - Auglaize Co., OH to Maynard T. and Elsie S. (Warner) Schamp. On March 31, 1951 in St. Marys, he married Betty B. Beer, who survives.
Also survived by: son Steve (Deb) Schamp of St. Marys, OH; 3 grandsons: Aaron (Korisa) Schamp, Calen (Madison) Schamp, Ben (Alexia) Schamp; 4 great-grandchildren: Clay Schamp, Brody Schamp, Carson Schamp, Elsie Schamp and another due in late summer 2023.; sister Marlene Harpest of Wapakoneta, OH; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents Maynard and Elsie Schamp; sister Sylvia (Donald) Prueter; brother-in-law James Harpest.
He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1950). He was retired from the maintenance department at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys. A lifelong farmer in Noble Twp., he also operated a SOHIO filling station in downtown St. Marys for a number of years. He attended the Walnut Grove Church in rural St. Marys and was a member of Chapter 68 of the Moonwalker Good Sam's Camping Group. His favorite pastimes included farming, spending winters in Florida, camping and boating. Maynard will be remembered as an outgoing, hard-hardworking man.
Public visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday April 30, 2023 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Private family burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
