James Moran
James W. Moran, 90, of Celina, Ohio, died 5:20 P.M. Monday, May 22, 2023, at Vancrest of Saint Marys Nursing Home.
He was born October 25, 1932, in Glynwood, Ohio, the son of Frank and Alodia (Zink) Moran, Sr.
He married Ada Hall on February 8, 1958, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, and she survives in Celina.
He is also survived by his children: Douglas (Annette Lauth) Moran of Celina; Louis (Julie Anspaugh) Moran of Destin, Florida; Keith (Diana Puthoff) Moran of Celina; Kevin (Cindy Schlosser) Moran of Saint Marys; Paul (Jennifer Hartlage) Moran of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Holly (David) Mitchell of Saint Marys; Phillip Moran of Fremont; Melinda (Christopher) Davis of Athens, Ohio.
He is survived by his 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; by his sister-in-law Judy Moran of Wapakoneta; by Ada's siblings Robert (Jean) Hall of Saint Marys and Elsie Smith of Saint Marys.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Frank (Joan) Moran; Betty (George) Miller; Patrick (Mary) Moran; Thomas Moran; by his grandson, Cory Lane Moran.
Jim was a 1950 graduate of Wapakoneta St. Joseph High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving in Alaska while it was a territory of the US. He had worked at Monarch Tool in Sidney, and was co-owner of Moran Refrigeration in Saint Marys with his brother, Pat Moran, retiring in 1994. He later sold real estate in Florida for 9 years.
Jim was an avid reader of western novels and he enjoyed going for long walks. He also liked playing golf, fishing, and watching the OSU Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles Aerie 767, American Legion Post 323 and VFW Post 9289 in Saint Marys, and the Celina Moose Lodge.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 26, 2023, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, the Reverend John Tonkin, celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Saint Marys.
Friends may call from 3-5 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to the Friends of Holy Rosary School, and also one hour prior to the funeral mass on Friday at the church.
