Donald Heitkamp
Donald J. "Snork" Heitkamp age 87, of Minster, Ohio, died at his home on Sunday, February 11, 2024 following a short illness.
He was born on March 8, 1936 in Minster, Ohio to the late Urban & Alvina (Kemper) Heitkamp. On October 17, 1970 he married Shirley Click and she survives in Minster.
He is also survived by children: Melissa & Ron Bergman, New Bremen; Don Heitkamp, Jr., Minster; and Tony & Saijit Heitkamp, Wapakoneta; grandchildren Michael Stachler, Austen, Jacob, Kayla, Blake & Carson Bergman, Riley Heitkamp and Anthonie Phommachanh; great-grandchildren, Raelynn Lutz, Rohan Stachler, Calvin & Klein Phommachanh; sister: Mary Jane & Duane Bachman, Piqua; in-laws: Judy Heitkamp & Larry Baker, Minster; Jane Heitkamp, Montezuma; and Barb Heitkamp, Montezuma.
Donald is preceded in death by siblings: Ken & Veronica Heitkamp, Larry Heitkamp, Gary Heitkamp, Terry Heitkamp, father & mother-in-law: Eugene & Marie Bednar and brothers-in-law: Michael & John Bednar.
Don was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster; Minster American Legion Post #387 and was a member of the firing squad, Minster F.O.E. #1391 serving as a trustee for over 20 years and was timekeeper for the Minster football team for 47 years. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the Village of Minster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial with full military honors to follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, February 17 from 8:30 to 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Minster/New Bremen Right to Life and Grand Lake Hospice.
