Frances Schmitz
Frances "Fran" L. Schmitz, 68, of New Weston, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born September 27, 1955, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to her parents, Eugene and Jennie (Seipp) Klaas.
In addition to her mother Jennie Klaas, Fran is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard "Rick" Schmitz, whom she married on November 7, 1976; her daughters, Amanda (Eric) Siefring of Bellefontaine, Ohio; and Andrea (Zachary) Newbauer of Union City, Ohio; her grandchildren, Brent (Sarah) Luttmer, Libby Siefring, Molly Siefring, Gentry Newbauer, Shelby Siefring, and Camden Newbauer; her siblings, Jerry (Alice) Klaas, Linda (Jim) Smith, Nancy (Jim) Fitzgerald, Brenda (Jim) West, Phillip (Arlene) Klaas, and Pam (Mike) Michard; her mother-in-law, Hilda Schmitz; and her in-laws, Edgar (Margeret) Schmitz, Jr., Judy (Tom) Wendel, Jenny (Tom) Zimmer, Gordie (Missy) Schmitz, Julia (Jeff) Slyder, Brenda (Rusty) Fink, Shelia (Scott) Reichard, and Bryan (Camela) Schmitz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fran was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Klaas; her infant children, Kenneth and Adrianne; her son, Allen Schmitz; and her father-in-law, Edgar Schmitz
Fran was a 1973 graduate of Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Ill. She worked for Crown for over 20 years, and then began working for Mercer Health in Coldwater for another 15 years until she retired. Her family meant everything to Fran. She loved being with them and supporting her beloved grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed going shopping and searching for the best deals.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Guests may visit with Fran's family on Sunday, March 16, 2024, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and again on Monday from 9 until 10 a.m. at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Fort Recovery Community Foundation, intended for the Allen Schmitz Scholarship Fund.
