Polar Plunge
Photo by Paige Sutter/The Daily Standard

While parts of Grand Lake were covered in a sheet of ice about 10 inches thick, a small uncovered area near the Celina Moose Lodge beach and Saturday's sunny and 25 degree weather made it perfect for an icy plunge. Special Olympics Ohio hosted yet another year of polar plunges, the Grand Lake polar plunge being one of 14 statewide. Participants, dressed in outrageous and whacky costumes, braved the cold temperatures to help raise money for Special Olympics Ohio athletes. As of Saturday's plunge, Special Olympics Ohio has raised $31,948 of its $37,000 goal.
