The anticipated matchup between Coldwater's Izzy Zahn and Fort Recovery's Anna Roessner in two events at the state track and field championships is set after the two had big days at their respective Division III regional track and field meets on Friday.

At Fostoria Memorial Stadium, Zahn won three individual events and ran a leg of a winning relay as the Cavaliers won the regional title with 106 points.

Zahn broke her own state records in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. In the 400, Zahn finished in 53.79 seconds, taking 0.55 seconds off the mark of 54.34 she set earlier this season. Then in the 200, Zahn broke the 24-second barrier with a time of 23.61 seconds, breaking the mark of 24 seconds set in Wednesday's prelims.

Zahn then teamed with Audrey Alig, Lana Kaiser and Kiersten Keller to establish a new regional meet record and a stadium record in the 4x400 relay, finishing in 3:56.01.

In the long jump, Zahn attempted just two tries, but her opening leap of 17-9 3/4 was better than the next best showing of 17 feet by Riverdale's Marissa Bohman to win the event as she moves on to defend her state title in that event.

Meanwhile, at Troy Memorial Stadium, Roessner won three events to move on to Columbus. Roessner opened her day with a win in the 100 dash with a time of 12.03 seconds. Then in the 400, Roessner finished in 56.77 seconds to get the win. Finally, Roessner finished the 200 in 24.82 seconds to win by nearly a second.
