Scott Spahr
Scott Thomas Spahr, 57, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
He was born May 6, 1968, in Celina, Ohio, the son of Thomas Ridenour and Alice F. (Elswick) Spahr. On October 5, 2002, he married Kimberly Wooten, and she survives.
In addition to Kim, Scott is survived by his daughter, Emma Spahr of Morristown; brother, William Robert "Will" Spahr and wife, Karen, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; father-in-law, James Wooten of Shelbyville; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Ridenour and Alice F. (Elswick) Spahr; and grandparents, Opie and Nora Lee Elswick.
In 1986, Scott graduated from Celina High School. He received his bachelors degree in secondary education from Mayville State College.
Scott was a Corporal and combat veteran of the U.S. Army. Serving during the Persian Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm, he fought valiantly as an Air Defense Artilleryman attached with the spread tip 24th Mechanized division. He was a Bronze Star recipient and reenlisted on captured Iraqui soil. He was honorably discharged from the Army on February 16, 1991. Scott retired from the Army on April 15, 1995.
He was a member of Blue River Wesleyan Church.
Scott had worked for the Boys and Girls Club of Morristown for 10 years, he was currently serving his 5th year as CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Shelby County. In recent years, Scott oversaw the opening of the Clubs in Waldron and Southwestern.
He had a passion for coaching, not just teaching children about the game, but also ensuring they were learning life's lessons.
Scott had a servants heart and it was very important to him to help others. He lived his motto: "LIVE BIG, BOLD, AND LOUD."
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm, Sunday, June 8, 2025 and from 9 to 10 am, Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Morristown High School gymnasium, 223 S. Patterson St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, June 9, 2025, at the gymnasium, with Pastor Aaron Marshall officiating.
Interment will be at Arlington East Hill Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the local military committee.
