Dennis Dysert
Dennis L. Dysert, age 75, of Celina, Ohio, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was born on November 9, 1949, in Celina to the late Devaun "Dick" and Phyllis "Jane" (Murr) Dysert. On September 15, 1973, he married the love of his life, Lynne Ann (Seger) Dysert, who survives at their residence in Celina.
Denny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is also survived by his children: Elizabeth "Libby" Lacy of Canal Winchester, Ohio; Trent (D'Ana) Dysert of Centerville, Ohio; and Nicholas "Nick" Dysert of Fort Myers, Florida. His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Madison Lacy, Briggs, Palmer, and Rilynn Dysert.
Denny was a 1968 graduate of Celina High School where he played football and basketball and was class President. He enrolled in Bowling Green State University to play football and finished his education at Wright State University with a B.S. in Business. He worked at Mersman Tables, Avco New Idea and retired from Reynolds and Reynolds in 2009. He spent many years coaching both Nick and Trent in football while refereeing high school and later college football. He was a very proud parent and enjoyed watching all three kids play soccer, basketball, football and baseball from elementary to college. He was a previous President of the Celina Athletic Booster Club and spent time as the general manager of the Grand Lake Mariners Baseball team where he enjoyed watching the six players the family housed over the summers.
Most recently Denny spent much of his time watching his granddaughter, Madison, play volleyball in high school and club and was very much so looking forward to watching her play at Otterbein University next year. He also enjoyed watching Briggs play youth football, basketball, and baseball, and watching Palmer cheer and run track. He was always the first to call after every game, eager to check in, talk through the highlights, and let them know how proud he was. We also often found him in the rocking chair with Rilynn on his lap, listening intently as she told him many detailed, funny stories.
Dennis was a longtime member of Grand Lake United Methodist Church in Celina, the American Legion Post #210 where he served as a past adjutant for the Sons of the Legion. He was a member of Celina VFW, Celina Moose Lodge, Mercer County Elks, and Celina Eagles. Denny belonged to the Celina Masonic Lodge 241, as well as the Dayton Antioch Shrine and Dayton Scottish Rite.
Above all else, he will be remembered for his unwavering love and support for his family. But we'll also forever cherish his terrible jokes (that we always laughed at), stocking stuffers, his unrelentless sweet tooth, finding him in the basement listening to his oldies on the jukebox, and the countless games of solitaire he played. These simple things meant so much because they were him- and they're what we'll hold close in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on Wednesday, June 25, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 AM with Rev. Matt Overman officiating. Burial will take place at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercer County Cancer Society or Celina Athletic Booster Club.
Cisco Funeral Homes of Celina and St. Marys are honored to care for Denny and his family. To share memories or leave condolences, please visit www.ciscofuneralhome.com or the Cisco Funeral Home Facebook page.
