Seahawks, Sharks duel in a dual in the pool

The Celina Sharks hosted a home swimming and diving meet at Bryson Pool on Tuesday as the St. Marys Seahawks traveled from Auglaize to engage in a Tri-County League matchup.

The Seahawks cruised to big wins. The St. Marys girls won 425-227 with the St. Marys boys winning 379-133.

Over a dozen St. Marys swimmers posted multiple wins in individual events on the evening. Maverick Budde, Allie Yahl, Amelia Menker, Kolby Kleinschmit, Alexa Taylor, Emmerson Fishbaugh, Crew Hertstein and Finlay Hertenstein each picked up three wins while Charlee VanMeter, Ezra Budde, Caiden McClain and Henry Adams were among the Seahawks with two wins.

Madeline Ekern collected two wins on the night for Celina. Also picking up individual wins for the Sharks were Sam Muhlenkamp, Kierra Messner, Harrison Miller, Paisley Jacquemin, Tyler McClellan and Alex Willis.

Picking up wins in the diving competition for St. Marys were Reed Jordan (boys 11-12), Eli Vogel (boys 13-14), Kameron Wehnes (15-18 boys), Oliver Rank (boys 8-under), Ryker High (boys 9-10), Harper Cable (girls 11-12), Piper Hays (girls 13-14), Alexus Jordan (girls 15-18), Amelia Menker (girls 8-under) and Jada Poff (9-10 girls).

The Tri-County championship meets begin Saturday with the diving championships at St. Marys. The B Swim meet will be at St. Henry on July 14 with the A Swim championships taking place July 19 at Coldwater.
