Ralph Rethman
Ralph Rethman, 87 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Saturday August 16, 2025, at 8:24 AM at his residence. Ralph was born on September 23, 1937, on the family farm in Versailles, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Homan) Rethman.
Ralph was a graduate of Versailles High School. He was a lifelong farmer and a rural route postal carrier. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, the Eagles, and the Moose. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at Lake Erie; and most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marleise (Albers) Rethman whom he married November 28, 1964 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Montezuma, Ohio; his infant daughter Ann Marie Rethman, his brothers and spouses, Walter and Esther Rethman, and Elmer and Marlene Rethman; and his father in law and mother in law, John and Regina (Bergman) Albers.
Ralph is survived by his children and spouses, Diane and Anthony Wenning of Yorkshire, Linda and Brent Forsthoefel of Coldwater, Ohio, Teresa and David Huntley of San Jose, CA, and Douglas and Kristina Rethman of Columbus, Ohio; his grandchildren, Jacob (Megan) Wenning, Rachel (Jonathan) Murphy, Ross (Ericka) Forsthoefel, Joshua (Brooke) Forsthoefel, Brandon Forsthoefel, Elizabeth Huntley, Hannah Huntley, William Rethman, and Oliver Rethman; his great grandchildren, Brody Wenning, Emmitt Murphy, Shay Murphy, Iris Forsthoefel, Lylah Forsthoefel, Charlie Kessen, and Harlow Kessen; his siblings, Mary and Paul Albers of Maria Stein, Ohio, and Mark Rethman of Versailles, Ohio; his sibling in laws, Dr. Thomas and Carmela Albers of Venice, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday August 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church 14 East Wood Street Versailles, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday August 21, 2025, and from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday August 22, 2025, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.
