Richard Birt
Richard E. "Dick" Birt, age 78, of Celina, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was born October 10, 1946, in Celina, to the late Eugene E. and Virginia E. (Trisel) Birt. On April 8, 1972, he married Donna (Richards) Birt, who survives at their home.
Dick is also survived by his children, Angela Neeld of Cridersville and Sean Birt of Longview, Texas; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Logan, Austin, and Dominic; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Ann Mocross, and his sister, Kathy Prater.
A lifelong resident of Mercer County, Dick was a proud graduate of Celina High School, Class of 1964. Following graduation, he served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He later built a long career working at General Dynamics in Lima and retired after several years of dedicated service in the maintenance department at Wright State University-Lake Campus.
He was a member of Neptune Church of God. Dick will be remembered as a gentle, kind-hearted man who deeply loved his family. He especially loved the outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting, boating, water-skiing, and cheering on his favorite sports teams.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, with Larry Cruea officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, with military honors provided by VFW Post #5713 and the Celina American Legion Post #210.
