Robert Ruhenkamp
Robert "Bob" Lee Ruhenkamp, age 81, Cardo Road, Fort Loramie, passed away peacefully of natural causes Thursday afternoon, December 4, 2025, at Vancrest of St. Marys, in St. Marys, Ohio, where he had been a resident for 8 weeks.
He was born March 18, 1944, in Yorkshire, Ohio. His parents are the late Mildred (Evers) & Henry Ruhenkamp who later married the late Rosellan (Rohrer) Ruhenkamp. On November 23, 1967, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Bob married Barbara (Rose) Ruhenkamp who survives.
Also surviving are two of four sons (& their spouses): Bryan (dec.) & Kimberly Jo Ruhenkamp of Fort Loramie, Jason "Jay" & Kim Ann Ruhenkamp of Fort Loramie, Randy & Valerie Ruhenkamp of Fort Loramie, Darren Ruhenkamp (dec.) and Stephanie & Doug Giere of Versailles; 13 grandchildren: Iris, Sable and Bode Ruhenkamp; Kate, AJ and Jayna Ruhenkamp, Kip, Weston and Cole Ruhenkamp, Bennett Ruhenkamp, Eddie, Francis and Josephine Giere; three siblings (& their spouses): Cheryl & Bob Hamberg of Portland, MI, Bruce Ruhenkamp of Fort Loramie, Larry Ruhenkamp of Covington and sisters & brothers-in-law: Janet Ruhenkamp of Versailles, Cathy Ruhenkamp of New Bremen, Joanne & Louis Bohman of Osgood, Virginia Dues of Coldwater, Teresa Rose of Minster, Elaine & Gary Thobe of Maria Stein, Linda & Mark Homan of Maria Stein and Gary Rose of Celina along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Ruhenkamp and Terry Ruhenkamp as well as brothers & sisters-in-law: Alvin Dues, Tom Rose, Phyllis Rose and Joyce Rose.
Mr. Ruhenkamp was a 1962 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. He then served for six years in the Army National Guard of Ohio and had been active in the Covington Transportation Unit during the Vietnam protest era. Bob was engaged in swine and grain farming. Years ago, he worked for Stolle Machinery in Sidney.
Bob was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He served 3-years on the St. Michael's Hall Board and had also belonged to the Fort Loramie Athletic Boosters and GYM Committee. He was a past member of the Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles and was still an active member of the Shelby County Pork Producers. Farming and all that goes with it was Bob's passion. To make things fun, he also enjoyed tractor pulling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Stephen Mondiek and Deacon Paul Timmerman presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday, 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
