Helen Tangeman
Helen M. Tangeman, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on January 12, 2026, at 1:32 A.M. at the Elmwood of New Bremen, at the age of 103.
She was born on July 7, 1922, near Wapakoneta, Ohio, the daughter of the late Milton G. and Agnes M. (McCullough) DuBois. On October 9, 1942, she married Harold H. Tangeman, and together they shared 63 years together before his death on December 17, 2005.
Helen leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her family, including her sons: Richard "Rick" (Sharon) Tangeman of New Bremen, and Rev. Michael (Chris) Tangeman of Gray Court, NC; and her daughters-in-law: Mary Tangeman of Forrest, OH, Terri Tangeman of Carry, NC, and Marty Tangeman of New Bremen. Also left to cherish her memory are her 12 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and a number of great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her sons: Ronald Tangeman, Timothy Tangeman, and Anthony Tangeman; and she was the last of her family being preceded by her siblings: Don DuBois, Warren DuBois, Carole Howell, Richard DuBois, and James DuBois.
As a dedicated registered nurse at the Joint Twp. Dist. Memorial Hospital, Helen touched countless lives with her caring hands and kind heart for the many years she worked there until her retirement in 1984. Even after retirement, she continued to volunteer with the hospital, along with Harold, for a number of years. Her servant heart went beyond her profession; she was an active and faithful member of Faith Alliance Church, where she passionately contributed to the Women's Prayer Group and shared joy with others through her involvement with Samaritan's Purse, TRANS World Radio, and teaching Sunday School.
Her love for life was evident in her many hobbies and passions. She loved to square dance, sew, and create beautiful embroidery works. She and Harold also spent many winters camping in warmer climates as a Christian Camper with a remarkable group for friends who affectionately called themselves the "Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service."
Helen's life will be honored in a private family celebration with services later this summer that will reflect her unwavering faith, her joyous spirit, and her zest for life. Inurnment will then take place in the Willow Grove Cemetery near New Bremen.
The Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, and memories and condolences can be shared with the family on the funeral home website: www.gilberghartwigfh.com.
