James Robert Hume, age 88, of Celina, Ohio passed away at on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was born on May 08, 1937 in Harrisburg, Arkansas to the late Milton Warren and Effie Lorraine (Sisk) Hume. On Feb. 15, 2000 he married Kay Virginia Shipman, who died June 26, 2011.

James is survived by: Special Friend, Dora Schimmoller, Celina; Daughters, Jolisa Hume, TX, Jennifer Hume, Ca; Step Children, Drs Kris (Greg) Greenwood, Dallas, TX, Kurt Eversman, St. Marys, OH; Son-in Law, Steve Brandon; 3 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister Myra Goodson, Oklahoma; and brother Ron Hume, Mesa, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, step father Woodson Swindell, son Joe Warren Hume, daughter Jodi Brandon, brothers Frank Swindell and Charles Swindell, brother-in-law Mike Goodson, Step-Daughter Kimberley Young.

Jim graduated from Leachville, High School in Leachville, AR. In 1955, then he served his country during the Vietnam War in Thailand and the Philippines in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the St. Marys Eagles, Celina Moose, Life Member of the Celina American Legion Post #210, and a Life Member of St. Marys V.F.W. Post# 9289 and Life Member of DAV.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2-4 & 6-8p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.
