Hoops for a cause

Basketball was the excuse but fun was the name of the game at the Blue on Blue game Wednesday night at St. Marys Memorial High School. The friendly competition pitted staff members from the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, pictured, against the Auglaize County Special Olympics Mustangs in a crowd-pleasing event that raised funds for Special Olympians. "It was a great evening. The raffles and auctions profited over $5,000, with all proceeds going to Special Olympics," said Sheriff Mike Vorhees. "I love when the community comes together for a great cause with everyone having a lot of fun." After taking a big early lead, the Mustangs held on to beat the sheriff's office, 68-59.
