St. Marys' Kaleigh Caywood, center, will attend Capital University and bowl for the Comets.

ST. MARYS - Capital University didn't have to make a road trip to scout Kaleigh Caywood, the St. Marys senior practically came to them.

"One of the tournaments we bowled my junior year was one (Capital) hosted for high school teams," said Caywood. "That's what brought us together."

Caywood made it official with her commitment to bowl for the Comets based in Bexley, near Columbus.

"Love how the practices are and how we connected together," said Caywood, who will major in business management with a minor in sports business.

The Comets wrapped up the regular season in mid-February at the Hoosier Classic, finishing 44th out of 64 teams.

"I love the coaching," said Caywood. "(The campus) felt like home."

Caywood has been a key member of the Roughriders the past two seasons in helping St. Marys extend their consecutive state appearances to five straight seasons. Last season, Caywood finished 16th in the individual standings as the Roughriders reached the quarterfinals of the championship bracket.
