St. Marys' Elle Craft, center, will attend the University of Northwestern Ohio and play volleyball for the Racers.
ST. MARYS - A homely feel led St. Marys' Elle Craft to the University of Northwestern Ohio to continue her volleyball career for the Racers.
"UNOH has such a small campus and it feels like home, like St. Marys," Craft said. "Everyone knows each other and they're all kind to each other. That was really what pulled me in that direction."
Craft will join the team after her 2025 season where she averaged 3.5 digs-per-set and led the team with 289 total digs as a libero. She also finished with 592 receptions and 57 assists on the season. Those numbers earned her a third team all-WBL selection as the Roughriders finished district runners-up.
The Racers are in a new era under coach Bill Bonham, who joins the program with 30 years of experience around both college and club programs. UNOH is coming off a 5-25 season, and a 2-18 mark in the NAIA's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
"All the girls at UNOH are super nice, they're amazing people. I went to a couple open gyms up there and it's super nice," Craft said. "I actually signed under the old coaching staff (led by Joshua Kreiner), but I really like coach Bonham. He's a great coach,"
Craft said her plans were to study sports marketing and eventually work at an NFL franchise in its marketing team.
