Over 150 local parishioners were in attendance at a Farm Mass and Catholic Century Farm blessing Friday night at the family farm of Scott and Shelly Hartings on Cranberry Road in St. Henry. Presiding over the Mass was Archbishop Robert G. Casey of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Newly awarded century farms were those of Dale and Diane George of the St. Louis parish, established in 1926; David and Kendra Penno of the Holy Trinity parish, established in 1913; Greg and Jennifer Stueve of the St. Augustine parish, established in 1859; and Carl and Rita Pleiman of the St. Peter parish, established in 1919. The awards are given by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Catholic Rural Life of St. Marys and Sidney Deaneries to families that have farmed the same land for 100 years or more.
