Eudora Virginia (Ginny) Loyer of St. Marys ended her journey on earth on Monday, July 27, 2026. Ginny was born near Edgerton, Ohio, on April 12, 1935, to William L. and Lucille (Callender) Mast. She graduated from Edgerton St. Joseph High School in 1953 and from Capital University in 1957 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. While attending Capital she met a fellow music major, Frederick Charles Loyer, and they were married the same weekend she graduated from college.

Ginny briefly worked as a clerk typist for the Department of the Army at Fort Polk, Louisiana, while Fred was stationed there. She taught elementary music in McCartyville, Ohio, for a year or two before beginning her family, and then after she and Fred moved to St. Marys in 1965, she taught elementary music in the St. Marys City Schools district, mainly at East Elementary. While at East, Ginny took great pride in the seasonal music programs she produced, complete with costumes and scenery. She kept pictures of the various programs and choirs from East Elementary over the years. In addition, she used her musical skills as a member of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys, where she led the choirs for over 45 years, especially the Senior Choir, and for periods of time the children's and bell choirs. She also served as an accompanist, both for worship and for Sunday School. Ginny was a teacher at heart, and many students over many years came to her for private voice, piano, and flute lessons.

Serving her community was an important part of Ginny's core values and faith. While she was on staff at Zion as a church musician, she also spent countless hours volunteering as a Sunday School teacher, writing and directing Christmas programs, organizing and putting together health kits, school kits, and baby kits to be sent to Lutheran World Relief, quilting with the Dorcas Society, attending and leading Bible study, and researching the history of the congregation. She took her spirit of service outside of her church and also volunteered at Agape Ministries, Inc. Resale store for many years. In addition, she was a member of the St. Marys Music Club and the Friends of the St. Marys Public Library.

Ginny also had many hobbies. She was an accomplished seamstress, making much of her own clothing, as well as clothing for her children and grandchildren. She loved to quilt, crochet, knit, and do needlework. She loved history: scrapbooking old pictures and news articles, collecting depression glass, and restoring antique furniture. An avid reader her entire life, she passed that love of reading on to her children and grandchildren.

Ginny and Fred raised 4 children: Katherine (Bradley) Will of Traverse City, Michigan, Michael Loyer of Cincinnati, Ohio, Cheryl (Paul) Beineke of Marion, Ohio, and Matthew (Marlys) Loyer of Clifton, Virginia. She has 11 grandchildren: Robert (Annette Ortiz) Schanski, Payne (Cathy) Schanski, Jeannette (Eric) Manger, Morgan (JP Balbo) Schanski, Benjamin (Lauren) Loyer, Virginia Beineke, Jacob (Julia Baldasare) Beineke, Jackson Loyer, Karis Beineke, Andrew Loyer, and Katherine Beineke. She was blessed to have five great-grandchildren: Glenn and Arthur Manger, and Juliette, Jalen, and Gael Schanski. Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, daughter-in-law Janine (Sidey) Loyer, and her parents.

The family would like to thank the staff at Otterbein St. Marys Assisted Living and Memory Support Unit for their kind, caring and professional support. Thanks also to the Acute Care staff at Joint Township Memorial Hospital and Grand Lake Hospice for making Ginny's last days as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts to Zion Lutheran Church, the Friends of the St Marys Community Public LIbrary, Grand Lake Hospice, or Otterbein.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 3, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys, the Reverend Paul Grueter, officiant. Graveside burial rites will be held at 3:30 P.M. Monday at the Marion Cemetery, Marion, Ohio.
