Linda Rump
With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Linda Rump, born November 19, 1944, who passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 13, 2026, at the age of 82.
She devoted more than 40 years of her career to St. Rita's Medical Center, where she worked as a nurse and later served as Director of Staff Development. She took tremendous pride in her work, especially in preparing for Joint Commission surveys and ensuring that the highest standards of care and education were maintained. Nursing was more than a career to her, it was an important part of who she was, and she was proud of the work she accomplished and the many people she helped throughout her career.
Her accomplishments were even more remarkable because of everything she balanced at home. She and her husband raised four daughters while he spent much of his career on the road as a truck driver. During those years, she worked full time, cared for her family, and earned her master's degree.
She and her husband shared a love of travel and adventure and were fortunate to experience many places together throughout their lives. Their travels included Hawaii, an Alaskan cruise, Australia, and many other memorable destinations. They also shared a love of racing and spent countless days attending sprint car, Indy, and NASCAR races. Racing became a family tradition, and they often brought their children along, creating memories and stories that would be shared for years to come.
She was a member of St. Paul Church in New Bremen, and an active member of the New Bremen American Legion Post 241 Auxiliary. She also enjoyed the friendships she made as a member of the Red Hat Society in New Bremen and looked forward to spending time with her card club.
She is survived by her four children, Valerie Beck; Julie (Kurt) Ehemann; Martie (Jerry) Bradley; and Kimberly Friedrichs and her partner, Peter Lopacki; two grandchildren, Shelby (Jason) Gibbs and Devon (James) Moran; and four great-grandchildren, Abel, Aria, Aiden, and Jamen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. "Red" Rump; her parents, Irvin W. and Elba M. (Snyder) Cummings; her brother, Dan Cummings; and her grandson, Matthew Beck.
Her life was one of hard work, accomplishment, adventure, faith, friendship, and, most importantly, family. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, perseverance, dedication, and love that will continue through her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, with Rev. Barry Bordenkircher officiating. Inurnment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen.
A time of visitation will take place one hour prior to the services at the church from 10:00-11:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be considered to The New Bremen Emergency Squad or St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen in her memory.   Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements, and condolences and memories can be shared with the family online at: www.gilberghartwigfh.com.
