* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.

Irene Gardner
Maria Stein native Irene L. Gardner, 65, of Dayton, died July 17, 2006, at Hospice of Dayton, following an illness.
She was born Aug. 7, 1940, in Maria Stein, to Joseph and Rose Knob Berning. Her husband of 48 years, Johnny S. Gardner survives.
Also surviving are a son, Eric J. (Jackie), of Mason; a brother, Urban (Lucy) Berning, Maria Stein; a sister, Velma (Andy) Hemmelgarn, St. Henry; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers and sisters.
She retired from Pickerel Shafer & Ebling Law Office, Dayton. She was a member of the Garden Club and Vandalia Senior Citizens. She was a former member of Polk Grove United Church of Christ and attended Stillwater United Methodist Church, Dayton.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Stillwater United Methodist Church, Dayton, the Revs. Duane Anders and Ron Hajarian officiating.
Calling is after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Contributions can be made to Hospice of Dayton or a charity of donor's choice.
