Doris Purdy
Doris M. Purdy, 91, formerly of 7287 state Route 197, Celina, died Sept. 1, 2006, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Dec. 5, 1914, in Mendon, to Pern and Fanny Fox Rhoades. On Aug. 27, 1938, she married Leroy Purdy who died Jan. 12, 1985.
Surviving are three sons, John (Gail) of Palm Springs, Calif., James (Barbara), Celina, and Jerry (Mary Kay), Coldwater; two daughters, Mary (Keith) Irish, Columbus, and Susan (Tom) Jacobs, Celina; a brother, Ralph Rhoades, Rockford; a sister, Marge Brandt, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant sister, Mary, and a grandchild.
She was a homemaker, former secretary/treasurer of GTE Credit Union, Celina, and a 1933 graduate of Mendon-Union High School. She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church and Shakespeare Club, both of Celina, and the Mendon Order of Eastern Star.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, with burial at Tomlinson Cemetery near Mendon.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
