* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

Doris Smith
Doris N. Smith, 84, of Sidney, died at 1:35 a.m. Nov. 7, 2006, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
She was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Greenville, to Leo R. and Ethel Steele Nelson. On Feb. 20, 1943, she married Lloyd O. Smith, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Stephen (Teresa), New Bremen; and twin granddaughters.
She was a retired history and social studies teacher in the Beaverdam/Bluffton and Ayersville school systems. She was a 1940 graduate of Beaverdam High School and a 1945 graduate of The Ohio State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She received her master's degree from Bowling Green State University. She and her husband served several years as trustees for Chapel by the Sea on South Padre Island.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital Foundation or to a local humane society.
