High water

Recent heavy rainfall flooded Beaver Creek and, further west, the Wabash River. Local rainfall in December topped out at 4.9 inches and, for the total year in Mercer County, the amount of rain was 47.07 inches. As of Friday, the water level in Grand Lake was 13 inches above normal pool. Rainwater overflow exits the lake through the West Bank spillway and flows into Beaver Creek, which then empties into the Wabash River.
