Nick Fanning, a sophomore at Memorial High School in St. Marys, on Wednesday puts finishing touches on his painting of a shelf of soft drink bottles. His colorful pop art piece, as yet untitled, will be submitted this weekend to the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Competition. Submissions last year totaled more than 12,000 for the approximately 300 spots at the state art show. Fanning is a student in Kim Strickland's art classes at the high school.
