The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Lowell E. Hassen
Lowell E. Hassen, 82, 814 Sunset Drive, Coldwater, at 1:30 p.m. March 21, 2007, in Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Macedon, to Donald and Nellie Dundon Hassen. He first married Pauline Axe, who died Dec. 29, 1991 and then married Florence Fifer, of Coldwater, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Doug, Celina; four daughters, Donna (Ralph) Gardner and Debra Abels, of Celina, Diana (John) Ferguson, Grove City, and Darcy (Tim) Homan, Mendon; a stepson, Jeff (Margaret) Meyers, Bryant, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Jane Horine, Portland, Ind.; two sisters, Juanita (Lowell) Gagel and Jean (Bob) Schritz, of Celina; a brother-in-law, Fred Stuehr, Celina; 11 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three sisters, Wanda Axe, Marcella Dock and Thelma Stuehr and two brother-in-laws, Howard Axe and Fred Dock.
He retired in 1986 after 25 years as a postal carrier in Coldwater, was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II and a farmer. He was a member of United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 470, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5135 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Post 3025, of Coldwater.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, the Rev. Allan Brown officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
