Robert Humbert
Robert E. Humbert, 83, of Rockford, died at 9:53 a.m. March 21, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Celina, to Nick and Pearl Painter Humbert. On Feb. 15, 1948, he married Dorothy Carr, who died June 21, 2004.
Surviving are a son, Larry (Debbie), New Philadelphia; two daughters, Diane (Ted) Rich, Berne, Ind., and Rita (Craig) Ripley, Willshire; a sister, Blanche, Celina; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Gerald, Stanley and Dale; and two sisters, Lula Kinnison and Violet Humbert.
He was a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Chattanooga, Shanes Lodge 377 Free & Accepted Masons and American Legion, both of Rockford, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 210, Celina. He also was a past Blackcreek Township trustee,. Mercer County Fair Board member and former president of the church council.
Services were Saturday at the church, the Rev. Randy Swanson officiated. Burial was at the church cemetery where military rites were conducted.
Calling was Friday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, and before church services Saturday.
