A couple check out damage to a home at 7780 Burrville Road near Chattanooga that was heavily damaged by fire Monday morning. The two-story home, owned by Kevin Day, was unoccupied when firefighters arrived about 7:30 a.m. No injuries were reported. About 30 firefighters from Chattanooga, Celina, Rockford and Southwest Mercer battled the blaze. Officials are investigating the cause and a damage estimate was unavailable at press time. The home is insured, according to Chattanooga Fire Chief Doug Brehm. Firefighters were on the scene about five hours and returned later in the day for several hours when hot spots rekindled, Brehm said.
