Jean Francis
Jean M. Francis, 83, of Russia, died at 5:45 a.m. Oct. 15, 2007, at Versailles Health Care Center.
She was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Russia, to Jesse and Marie K. Pleiman Simon. On Jan. 9, 1947, she married Valerian F. "Bub" Francis, who died April 29, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Tony (Carolyn), Versailles, and Barney (Sonja), Russia; two daughters, Cathy (Kenneth) Vian, Celina, and Irene (Rick) Dues, Russia; a brother, Dale J. Simon, Russia; a sister, Karen (Gerald) Tumbush, Dayton; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Andrew and Richard; a brother, Cecil Simon; a sister, Cecilia Vagedes, and an infant sister, Mary Ethel Simon.
She retired in 1986 after 33 years with the U.S. Post Office in Russia, where she served as postmistress for 12 years. A 1942 graduate of Russia High School, she was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.
