Dumped
Photo by Mark Pummell/The Daily Standard

A heavily damaged 1995 Freightliner dump truck rests along St. Anthony Road, east of Rauh Road, following a Monday morning accident. Edward J. Link, 41, 1587 Sharpsburg Road, Fort Recovery, told Mercer County Sheriff's deputies he was westbound at 9:37 a.m. when an eastbound blue, mid-sized car traveled left of center. He headed toward the ditch to avoid hitting the other vehicle, then overcorrected, traveled off the other side and struck the ditch causing the vehicle to flip onto the driver's side. Link was freed from the wreckage by Southwest Mercer firefighters and taken by ambulance to Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. Cleanup took some time as a load of gravel spilled when the truck overturned. The report indicated damage to the roadway apparently caused by the heavy vehicle weight. There was no car at the scene when emergency crews arrived.
