Aloysius Bruns
Aloysius "Al" U. Bruns, 80, 321 N. Mill St., Celina, died at 2:36 a.m. Oct. 19, 2007, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born in Philothea on May 1, 1927, to Herman and Teresa Timmerman Bruns. On Oct. 23, 1948, he married Wilma Bertke, who survives in Celina.
Also surviving is a daughter, Cindy (Robert) Van Santvoord, Celina, and four grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Clarence and Werner; and four sisters: Marcella Dorsten, Stella Wenning, Shirley Walton and Alvera Fink.
He was employed at Mersman Furniture Company, Bordens, Sisters of the Precious Blood in Maria Stein. Finally he was a greeter at Wal-Mart, Celina.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina. He served in the U. S. Army as a MP during World War II. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, and a member of Celina Eagles Aerie and Celina Senior Citizens.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina, with military honors by the VFW and American Legion Post 210.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Monday and before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina. The VFW will conduct services at 7 p.m. Monday.
