Giving thanks
Photo by Shelley Grieshop/The Daily Standard

Joseph G. Miller on Wednesday carefully slices one of about two dozen turkey rolls for the Giving Thanks celebration held Thursday at Celina High School. Miller and other volunteers were preparing food in the kitchen cafeteria. This year's traditional menu consisted of roast turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, noodles, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce/gelatin salad, dinner rolls, pie and cake and beverages. The Giving Thanks meal in Celina, which was almost canceled this year due to lack of volunteers, served just under 900 meals, said chairman Bruce Swonger, who took over the event from longtime organizers Phil and lyn Cozadd.
