Evelyn Schamp
Evelyn R. Schamp, 89, 1907 Winston Drive, St. Marys, died Dec. 13, 2007, at The Gardens of Celina Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 21, 1918, in St. Marys, to Carl and Cecil Silver Knipple. On March 24, 1940, she married Burdette "Bus" Schamp, who died Sept. 30, 1987.
Survivors are two sons, Brad (Susan), Archdale, N.C., and William T., Celina; a daughter, Debbie (Allan) Chamberlin, Bowling Green; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Pamela Lynn; and a brother, Rolland Knipple.
She was a homemaker and seamstress and worked at the former St. Marys Cotton Mill and Luxury Blankets Co., prior to retiring from the former St. Marys Decorating store. A 1935 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys, she was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church and the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital Guild, both of St. Marys. She was a Girl Scouts of America leader and officer of the Parent Teacher Association at St. Marys City Schools.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Mary Kay Brown officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.
