Dorothy Emerson
Dorothy A. Emerson, 92, 611 W. Market St., Rockford, died at 6:20 a.m. Feb. 26, 2008, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Convoy, to Herbert and Elizabeth Boon Dawson. On March 13, 1937, she married Clarence Emerson, who died Nov. 9, 1969.
Survivors are five daughters, Gloria (Fred) Vann, Mary Lou Lehman, Helen King, Suzanne (Art) Christie and Betty (Larry) Houser, all of Rockford; a sister, Geneva Plymate, of Illinois; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, William; five brothers, Donald, Arthur, Bill and Maurice Dawson and Fred Armes; a sister, Ivy Wagner; a great-grandchild and a great-great grandchild.
She had worked at Tuway Products in Rockford.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Robert Loar officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
