Helen Sanders
Helen M. Sanders, 98, of Cassella-Montezuma Road, Maria Stein, and formerly of Mason Road, Fort Loramie, died at home at 4:30 p.m. April 20, 2008. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born June 20, 1909, at Fort Loramie, to Henry C. and Catherine Eilerman Boerger. On June 15, 1932, she married Theodore B. Sanders, who died December 12, 1978.
Surviving are three daughters, Marjorie (Wilbert) Heitkamp, Columbus, Carol Laub, Versailles, and Judy (Dennis) Dirksen, Cassella; a son-in-law, Paul Poeppelman, Fort Loramie; a sister, Esther Henschen, Sidney; two sisters-in-law, Emrita Boerger, Fort Loramie, and Dorothy Boerger, Greenville; 20 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Elsie Poeppelman; three brothers, Ed, George and John Boerger; two sisters, Emma (Henry) Sanders and Frances (Karl) Rethman; and a brother-in-law, Curtis Henschen.
She was a homemaker and had been a substitute cook at Fort Loramie schools. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and its St. Ann's Ladies Sodality, an Appostleship of Prayer promoter, and a charter member of the Knights of St. John Commandary Ladies Auxiliary.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. James McCabe officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
