Eugene Dieringer
Eugene F. "Snip" Dieringer, 82, 1133 Jefferson Ave., Celina, died at 1:38 p.m. May 17, 2008, at the Dayton Heart Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1926, in Celina, to August and Martha Metzger Dieringer. On Jan 20, 1951, he married Mary E. Linn, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, John (Michelle); two daughters, Brenda (Jim) Vantilburg, and Sandy, all of Celina; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant son; two brothers, Glenn and August Jr.; and a sister, Edna Bergdahl.
He retired from the Celina Post Office where he was a rural letter carrier for 31 years, and was formerly employed by Standard Oil. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, the Royal Arch Masonic Lodge, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Celina, the Scottish Rite, Dayton, member and treasurer of the Celina Masonic Lodge Free & Accepted Masons, past patron of the Eastern Star, secretary for the Rural Letter Carriers Association of Mercer County and member of the Wabash Valley Dartball League for the last 40 years. A 1940 graduate of Celina High School, he also was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Paul Baglien officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery in Celina, with military honors by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Celina.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour prior to services at the church Thursday. Services also will be held Wednesday at the funeral home by the Eastern Star at 4 p.m., the American Legion and VFW at 7 p.m. and the Masonic Lodge at 8 p.m..
Contributions can be made to the Partners In Education Fund at the church or the Celina Masonic Lodge building fund.
