Three local swimmers completed a promised 3-mile-plus swim across Grand Lake on Sunday morning and in the process raised more than $3,000 toward health and exercise equipment for Fort Recovery and Celina schools. The swimmers between the safety boats above are 21-year-old Tyler Uhlenhake, Celina, left, 18-year-old Michelle Gehret, Fort Recovery, and Julie Fleck, 38, Celina. The swimmers had to get a permit to make the swim attempt. A boat, a lifeguard and a spotter was mandated for each swimmer, as well. The swimmers made it from the Windy Point peninsula to the north bank property of Nancy Otis, which took about two and a half hours.
